Best Coast

The mere transcription of a postpoem sent on  in the form of a poem written by Elizabeth Aamot directly on a postcard designed by Sweet Margaux Ink in Oakland, CA. The artifact is a recording of the performance of the poem in the postpoet's conscious attention and transmits transparent gravity to its recipient, a fellow participant in the August Poetry Postcard Festival in 2014.

Best Coast

The sea is something

the sun sets into.

We know in our bones

the ocean is only an ocean

if it stands up and waves

goodnight under shrieking

pink skies. The other edge

of the continent can keep its

early mornings, its efficient cities.

Let us wake late, let us

sprawl, let the motes

of our bodies one day be held

in the crushing arms

of the Pacific.
